Anal Play and Numbing Agents
Why Anal Products Should Never Contain Numbing Agents
Anal play can be a staple in your sex life, or a great way to mix things up. Anal sex isn’t like vaginal sex though, and there are some important things to remember before engaging in anal play. Unlike the vagina, the anus does NOT self lubricate. Therefore, using a lubricant is essential for safety and pleasure. Wicked’s Jelle is a water-based lubricant that is designed specifically for anal use. It features a super thick viscosity in a glycerin free formula, which is never sticky or tacky and provides the right amount of ‘cushion’ for an extremely pleasurable experience. The important thing to remember is that it contains no desensitizers – which are especially important for the health, safety of anal play.
Be aware that lubricants and desensitizers are not the same thing; although some lubricants may contain desensitizers.
A desensitizer is a numbing agent which when applied to a specific area will block any sensation of discomfort or pain. While it may sound like a good idea to not feel pain, it is important to feel potential discomfort during anal sex; because if there is pain, it is a sign that something is wrong. Desensitizing the sensitive anal area during anal sex could lead to more serious issues down the road.
Using a high quality lubricant will help to protect against the possibility of injury and enhance the pleasure of both participants.
Remember to trust how you are feeling, go slow and communicate with your partner and ALWAYS use plenty of lube.
