If you’re not using personal lubricant when you’re indulging in some solo time or playing with your favorite toys, you’re missing out. The right lube can increase your pleasure, making everything feel smoother, slicker, and even more intense. But with so many options out there, how do you choose the best lube for masturbation or toys?

Let’s break it down and find the perfect match for your needs—whether you want something warming, cooling, extra slick, or designed specifically for your favorite vibrator or masturbation sleeve (like a Fleshlight).

Why Lube Matters for Solo Play and Toys

Masturbation should feel amazing every time, and a high-quality personal lubricant enhances the experience by reducing friction and adding extra glide. But not all lubes are great for all purposes—some are better suited for different sensations, toy materials, and body parts.

That’s why it’s crucial to know which formulas work best for your specific playstyle and preferences.

The Different Types of Lubes (and When to Use Them)

There are three main types of lube: water-based, silicone-based, and hybrid. Each has its pros and cons, depending on what you’re using it for.

Water-Based Lubricants

Water-based lubes are the most versatile and safe for use with all sex toys. They provide a natural feel and are easy to clean up. However, they may need to be reapplied during longer sessions.

Try: Aqua Heat – This warming lube is perfect if you want a gentle, arousing heat to enhance solo play. Since it’s water-based, it won’t damage your silicone toys and cleans up easily with water and toy cleaner.

Silicone-Based Lubricants

Silicone lubes last much longer than water-based options, making them great for extended solo play. However, they should not be used with silicone toys as they can degrade the material.

Try: Ultra Chill – This cooling silicone lube adds an exciting chill to your experience while providing ultra-smooth, long-lasting glide. It’s excellent for manual play but should be avoided with silicone-based toys.

Oil-Based and Cream Lubricants

These are not suitable for use with latex condoms but are fantastic for skin-on-skin contact and manual masturbation.

Try: Creme Masturbation Cream – This rich, silky formula is specifically designed for penises, providing an incredibly smooth, non-sticky feel. It’s excellent for manual stroking but not recommended for toy use.

Manual Masturbation: Hands-On Pleasure for All Bodies

Using your hands for masturbation can be just as satisfying as using toys, especially when paired with the right lube. For penises, a high-quality lubricant like Creme Masturbation Cream provides an ultra-smooth glide that enhances sensation while reducing friction.

Vulva owners can enjoy external or internal stimulation with a silky water-based lube like Aqua Heat, adding a gentle warming sensation to heighten pleasure.

For anal masturbation, it’s essential to use a thicker, longer-lasting lubricant such as a silicone-based formula like Ultra Chill to ensure maximum comfort and slickness. No matter your anatomy, the right lube can turn manual masturbation into a truly indulgent experience.

Best Lube for Fleshlight and Stroker Toys

Fleshlights and other realistic stroker toys require a lube that mimics natural wetness while maintaining smooth gliding action. Since these toys are typically made of soft, porous materials, choosing the right lube is essential for longevity and comfort.

Try: Toy Love – This water-based lubricant is designed specifically for sex toys, making it a fantastic choice for Fleshlights. It has a thick, luxurious texture that stays in place, preventing the lube from dripping out too quickly while keeping everything silky smooth.

Bonus Tip: Always clean your Fleshlight or stroker with a quality toy cleaner after each use to prevent bacteria buildup and extend its lifespan.

jessica drake’s Tips for Masturbation May

jessica drake — Mon, 06 May 2024 21:48:24 +0000

It’s Masturbation May! As someone deeply passionate about sexual wellness and empowerment, I’m super excited to dive into one of my fave personal subjects: the art of self-love and the pure joy of masturbation. This month isn’t just a celebration of solo play; it’s a perfect time to get in touch with your body and explore pleasure in new ways. Here are a few tips and fun product suggestions to enhance your self-love sessions!

Why I Celebrate Masturbation

Masturbation is such a powerful way to understand your desires and preferences in a totally safe and comfy space. For me, every session is like a mini-journey of self-discovery. Whether you’re a newbie or a self-love pro, each moment of exploration builds confidence and gives you personal insight into what gets you off — and that makes it easier to explain it to someone else!

My Go-To Tools

I love mixing things up with toys. If you’re looking to enhance your experience, why not try adding some playful companions to your repertoire? A great starter toy is a simple external vibrator. Pair any toy with Wicked Sensual Care’s Toy Fever to add that extra sensation and make your toys glide smoothly.

Setting the Perfect Scene

I find that setting the tone makes a big difference. I love to dim the lights, light a few candles, and put on music to match my mood- I’m seducing myself! Sometimes, I’ll even treat myself to a warm bath with oils beforehand. It turns my self-love time into a really indulgent treat.

Trying New Things

If you’re anything like me, you might find yourself in a bit of a self-pleasure rut. Why not shake things up? Slow down your pace, explore edging—where you bring yourself close to climax and then back off. This method has transformed my orgasms into something spectacularly intense. Or, experiment with different times—morning sessions really invigorate my day, and a nighttime routine helps me sleep better than a sleeping pill.

I also love to use Wicked Sensual Care’s Awaken clitoral stimulation gel. If you have a clit and haven’t tried this out yet, I highly recommend it! Awaken has amazing cooling and warming botanicals that spice up every touch, making my skin tingle in the very best way.

Lube: A Must-Have

Seriously, even if you think you’re fine without it, give lube a try. It’s a game changer. Lube isn’t just for people with “problems”- it decreases friction and increases pleasure. To make things glide effortlessly, I recommend Wicked Sensual Care’s Jelle. It’s extra-thick, perfect for any kind of play—external, internal, or even anal.

Penis Pleasure, Too

For those of you who enjoy a bit of indulgence in penis pleasure, don’t forget about Wicked Sensual Care’s Créme. It’s a fantastic external stroking cream for penises that I’ve found adds a velvety touch that really enhances the experience.

Connecting Deeply with My Body

Masturbation is so much more than just aiming for an orgasm—it’s about bonding with your body. I love to focus on every little sensation. Which strokes make me gasp, which pressures send me over the edge? Knowing these helps not only during solo play but also when I’m with a partner.

The Many Benefits

Here’s a fun fact: Regular self-pleasure can improve your sleep, boost your mood, and even enhance your immune system. I always say it’s my favorite form of self-care!

Breaking the Silence on Masturbation

Talking about masturbation can still feel taboo, but it’s such a normal and healthy part of our sexuality. This month, I challenge you to open up about your experiences. It’s amazing how sharing can help demystify and normalize self-pleasure.

jessica drake’s Tips for Mental Health and Masturbation Month in May

jessica drake — Tue, 11 May 2021 17:25:22 +0000

MAYbe…

So, if April Showers bring May flowers, Maybe this month we fully embody the rejuvenation of Spring and open ourselves to the possibility of newness. We’ve spent so much time in the past year fearing for the worst, some of us surviving the worst, maybe now it’s time we pause and ask ourselves “what if it all works out in the end?”

Maybe instead of hating these bodies of ours that carried us through a pandemic, we love them the way they deserve? Speak compassion and grace into your body. Indulge it with things that help it feel good, soothe it, and celebrate it. Do not begrudge the weight gained nor the weight lost. You were doing the best you could.

As Cassie, our Marketing Director and self-proclaimed “Lube Nerd” said, it’s likely no coincidence that May is both #MasturbationMonth AND #MentalHealthMonth – we know how sexual health and wellness can be tied into mental health. Let’s acknowledge both proclamations by talking about masturbation and pleasure as if they were our birthrights- because they are. Masturbation has a host of benefits that go hand in hand with our mental health. It causes our brains to make those “feel good’ chemicals- it can fight stress and relax us, help us sleep better, gets us comfortable in our skin, and the bottom line is it feels good.

Maybe try something completely different. Change the setting of self-love. Is the bed the usual spot for you? Try the couch. The shower or bath. Outside, if you have the privacy and the weather is cooperating. Romance yourself. Engage your brain and your body at the same time and appreciate your imagination. Imagine the very best sex you’ve ever had. Imagine the very best sex that you’ve never had but one day you just might. Think about how it looks, how it feels, how it smells, how it sounds. Think about it as you start to explore your body. Use lube on your fingers as they start to roam. Try a sensation lube like Aqua Heat or Chill to change things up and supply you with stimulating sensations to bring you more in touch with your body. Incorporate your new favorite toy. Take your sweet time. Maybe you orgasm once…or maybe you discover you’re capable of multiple or blended Os. Maybe you don’t have an orgasm at all, and you still feel amazing just the same.

Maybe I take my own advice, because often things are easier said than done.

May we grow and blossom and heal all Spring long.

xo,
